you'll notice his tail and ears are very different to tsunami and my general headcannon for seawings/ i imagine the tribe has countless phenotypes for features like that, as diverse as the marine life surrounding them
As someone from an area with a lot of these bastards (alligator snapping turtles specifically, which are much larger), this is all great and true, but I feel like yall are underestimating these guys a bit. Admittedly i don't have as much experience with the smaller ones, but better safe than sorry.
Not contradicting the instructions, those are super good and I have helped snapping turtles across the road w similar methods, but if you're not familiar w animals or not confirdent, JUST LEAVE THEM ALONE and call animal control or your local department of wildlife. I have seen the damage these guys can do, they will literally bite off chunks of your hand or arm. Also, if you do help one along the road, remember their neck is MUCH longer than you think it is, and there's a solid chance when you put them down they will turn and snap at you, so back up immediately. They're faster on land than you think.
Not to ruin the mood of the cute comic (which is wonderful, my only critique is to add that they may turn and snap when you set them down at the end) but seriously, these are dangerous wild animals, please be careful.
trying to decide if i'd rather be a tortoise or a turtle. on the one hand I prefer dry land, on the other hand turtles can breathe out of their cloacae so. it's tricky

I need help. 🐢
For my upcomming PhD, I need to sample several turtle species to obtain chemical data based on their environment. For that I need to contact rescue centers, sanctuary, etc
I have found rather easily contact informations for sanctuaries working with marine turtles but I struggle to find centers working with Malaclemmys Terrapin. The difficulty is that I need tropical latitudes, so the south of the USA would be great, in coastal areas to have specimens living in brackish waters. The majority on the centers I have found are in NJ or NC.
So if you have informations, it would be great 😁

They can be of any class or variety of magic-user (wizard, witch, sorcerer, warlock, healer, druid, etc.), of any race or species, so long as using magic is *primarily* their thing in the story. Not just something they do occasionally, but something that is a major element of their role and their identity.
Prob Fathom or turtle as amimuses. Idk I just love anxious, powerful characters who are to scared to use their powers because they don't wanna hurt others and their main plot point I'd finally realizing that they can use their powers as tools to help the people they love and their powers don't shape them as characters.

鼋 Cantor's giant softshell turtle/ Asian giant softshell turtle (Pelochelys cantorii). The species is classified as endangered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. The brown ones are babies.
斑鳖 Swinhoe's softshell turtle/ Yangtze giant softshell turtle (Rafetus swinhoei). The species is classified as critically endangered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. At the moment, there are four living individuals known.
It wasn't easy for me to find reference photos of the species or draw the unique patterns. 🤔
玳瑁 hawksbill sea turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata). The species is classified as critically endangered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. 😩 I made some mistakes when I drew the hawksbill sea turtle, and later I redrew the scutes after realizing the mistakes. I also changed the patterns on the hawksbill's beak.
Hmm, I think I might not be allowed to share the illustrations that I drew for the book about animal rescue with people on social media platforms (🤔at least not yet? I am not very sure about it… ). Those drawings were drawn in October, 2020, and in November, 2020, and they actually look pretty similar to these ones. I have some other drawings as well as some stories to post anyway. 😂😂😂 I am working on some projects and it's tiring. I write and draw my stories, so it can be exhausting in some ways. I plan to draw some more species and I have already illustrated a few pictures. It's likely that I will share some of my new art with you guys. 🤔🤔🤔
