dude it's wild how I can write 11 pages of fic and not even blink an eye and then I go to write a six page lab report and it feels.... insurmountable
and to be fair to me the lab report is in my second language but still the relative amounts of emotional energy do not add up here
anyway the lab report is getting done four hours before it's due and there is more Tommy X Maria fic coming lmao

Where are my STEM girls at?
I knew that there was a large difference in the number of guys vs girls in STEM but as an enviromental science (a reletively balanced field) focused student I never really understood or felt its impact. Then I walked into my computer science class today and realised I was the only girl in the room.
I get it now.
uni has been such a weird and alienating experience, granted i’m in my first year and it’s a huge place but it seems like everyone knows eachother and that everything is going smoothly.i went in thinking id make so many friends and feel content with my choices but my mental health has been deteriorating and my doctors (who are male and i swear that has an impact) don’t understand what im trying to say.

what is/was your favourite subject?
In high school, my favorite subjects were definitely biology and philosophy!✨ In university, my enthusiasm increases with everything that has to do with biological or neurological psychology. In my opinion, there is nothing more exciting than that!
what is your dream degree?
First, I will definitely want to complete my bachelor's degree, but I would love to do the master's and doctorate afterwards as well! My absolute dream is to work in psychological research, where the behavior and functions of the brain are studied and explored.
what is and did you get into your first choice of uni/college? If you haven't, what were your alternatives? (or if you're still in HS, what are your options?)
It's a little sad, but it ended up being the best decision I ever made! Because of Corona, I decided to go to a "distance learning university". That means I'm doing my entire bachelor's degree on my own and from home💪🏻 It's really tricky sometimes to do everything by myself, but I'm lucky that I was able to make some new friends through the internet and connectivity within the university! I can only recommend distance learning universities to others, but it takes a lot of self-discipline and strength to do it all. But it is a nice experience and I am glad that I can do it!🥰

Not really. In high school, I took some courses that had to do with biology, but the older I got, the less time I had for it🥲
was there an essay or project you did for school that you loved to do and stuck with you?
Not really a specific essay or project, but I can definitely say that everything related to philosophy has changed me💭 In particular, my conception and understanding of things has been broadened and changed. Even today I can apply the things I learned while studying psychology. Many psychological thoughts and theories are related to philosophy, but also the other way around!
what did you do to relax from studying and school stress?
To relax I like to play Switch🥰 I'm particularly addicted to Pokémon games and Animal Crossing, as they don't require many brain cells. Other than that, I also like to read, write my own stories/fanfictions and craft. My irl friends are of course not forgotten! Once a week we meet to play DnD or just to chat.
what are your academic goals for the future?
As I wrote above, I would love to have a PhD and work in psychological research! But I would also settle for just a master's degree. Success is not everything and the most important thing in life is to be happy and healthy!✨

New desk setup!✨🥰 The last days of August are approaching and I´m trying my best to take these few days off. There isn´t much to do until the 1st September, so I´m just chillin´, playing some games and planning out the next months and semester! 💖 btw my exam went pretty well and I hope, that I will get a good grade! :) Thank you all for supporting me!! 💗✨

the past couple of years have been so draining. i really just want to give up and say fuck college. it feels so pointless when the country (im in the us) is going to shit,
BUT THIS IS WHAT THEY WANT!
if you are in school right now, try your best not to give up.
if you are capable, do your best to finish your education.
the reason im saying this is not to tell you how successful you can be or how much money you can make or what a great job you will get.
the government does not want us to be educated. it is easier to manipulate and control uneducated people.
i have had to drastically change my mindset because of this. im not working to get the best grades or be the top of my class (if you can do that, please go for it!! just not possible for me). im simply trying to get my education, learn critical thinking skills, learn fact checking, etc.
im working hard now because fuck the government. and if spite is what i have to use in order to get my education, then fine. im doing it out of spite.
also, while i absolutely believe education should be free and every should have the opportunity, this is not reality. i am privileged to attend university, and im going to take advantage of it.
