Y’all my dad just tried to show me an article by a news company called the gateway pundit. Don’t read it bc it’s a far-right, conservative website that is known to be untrustworthy and biased. So the article stated that the amazon forest fires happening right now aren’t nearly as bad as they have been in the past 15 years. I was just speechless. There was no evidence to back up the story, not accurate evidence anyway. There were already hundreds of news articles explaining that the fires are actually worse, with an 83% increase if fires this year. All of them provided factual data taken from satellites and scans. It’s just so annoying when people try to prove you wrong, when you have a ton of trustworthy evidence, and all they have is a singular reference that is known for writing falsehoods and untrustworthy articles.

Rant real quick don’t mind me

Ok so I mentioned to my dad about what was happening to the Amazon in Brazil. He shrugged it off saying that there’s fires all over the world, why is this one any different? I told him it was bc the amazon literally makes 20% of the worlds oxygen, and that those burning trees emit a lot of smoke and CO2, which isn’t ideal for the planet atm. He didn’t believe me when I told him those facts, that most ppl would know. The amazon rainforest is a vital part of this planet and he brushed it off like it was nothing. I also stated that the increase in CO2 would be very bad for climate change, and he proceeded to tell me that it wasn’t a thing that existed and said that the people who tell me that “bullshit” are crazy idiots who are only trying to brainwash me to try to get power and money. He said climate change doesn’t exist, when there’s clearly SO MUCH evidence that it does. I read him an article from NASA abt how climate change exists (link is here). He then told me that NASA is a corrupt source and that I shouldn’t listen to the lies they spread, saying I’m too naive to know about what I’m talking about, when literally every 5 seconds he likes to point out that I’m 18 and an adult, that I should basically have known everything as soon as I turned 18. I love my dad sometimes, but most of the time all he does is yell at me and he just pisses me off so much. How can one person be so ignorant as to not see what’s happening right in front of their eyes??? K that’s the end of my rant thanks for coming to my TEDtalk

This is so freaking important.

This is literally why we all draw as kids.

Because it makes us happy and we love it. And when we grow up and art becomes this tool to show what we imagine, so other people can see what we imagined, we more and more focus on the end product rather than the process that used to be so much fun.

We see mistakes, we try to get rid of them, we criticize our works until all that is left is stress and bitterness.

This is not why we drew in the first place.

Drawing used to be fun.

And I think it’s nice that she reminded me of it. Because I forgot.

this year:

The other day I went to McDonald’s with my family and the guy who took my order was really loud and was basically like “HAPPY HOLIDAYS WHAT CAN I GET YOU” and I was like wow I can’t let this guy outmatch me so I yelled “I’LL TAKE A HAPPY MEAL WITH THE NUG NUGS IF I MAY” you know, like a natural well-adjusted epitome of adulthood 19 year old and he was like “CERTAINLY WOULD YOU LIKE THE MIGHTY KIDS MEAL INSTEAD WITH EXTRA FRIES” and I was so sleep deprived I essentially blacked out and apparently leaned over the counter like I was robbing the place, raised my eyebrow like a suave robin hood and said “HECK YES I WOULD GOOD SIR” and then I sat down and he yelled from across the store “WOULD YOU LIKE THE PURPLE OR BLUE SPIDER-MAN” and since purple is the more superior color that’s how I answered and long story short my parents think college changed me and that I’m now the poster child for being social and I’ve only been asked once why I’m not in a relationship yet but I know it’s gonna be brought up again and how do i tell my parents it’s because whenever I eat in the dining hall I spend the entire time playing bumper cars with the wheeley chairs and all I eat is pixie sticks and the last time I was in the library (where I’m supposed to work next semester, deAr GoD) I ripped my leggings in the bathroom pulling up my pants and I walked the entire 20 mins back to my dorm with my neon underwear peeking out from the holes like a 17th century harlot with a cocaine addiction and I’ve essentially been living off jars of peanut butter and the soundtrack to the bee movie for the past year

a quick grass tutorial

I’ve never really wrote a tutorial before so apologies if this is bad

1. okay first thing I do is pick three colors, a mid, dark, and light. I like to check the colors in greyscale to make sure there’s enough contrast between each one.

I then plop down a blob of whatever my middle tone color is.

2. next, I take my dark color and just sort of randomly place it around. I try to make sure there’s a good amount of both the mid and dark tones spread throughout. I personally like to keep it kinda messy. I also have pen pressure on for both brush size and opacity, so I can have some blending action going on.

3. for the next step I do the exact same thing as before, except with the light color.

4. aight this is where we start adding details. see how you just have a bunch of colors and edges where two colors meet? use the eyedropper and go to an area where two colors meet, eyedrop a color, and then use that color to draw in your grass blades. I do this at every point where colors meet. should note I personally like to use a square brush, but you can really just use anything.

5. you can technically stop at the last step if you’re going for a more simple look, but to add more details I go to the “empty” areas of solid color and just draw in random strokes using a color nearby. it’s just a way to fill up the empty space.

6. basically more of the same idea of eyedropping and drawing. for more variety so things look interesting, I like to add random plant shapes.

7. and so the grass doesn’t look too plain, I add random dots of color and pretend it’s flowers and stuff.

and there you have it, this is how I approach drawing grass.
