Eddie hates vanilla scented colognes because it's the type of cologne that Richie wore, and more specifically the one Richie was wearing the day he left Derry. But Eddie can't remember why he hates the smell, only that it brings up a fuzzy nostalgic feeling that makes his heart ache. Until 2016 when he gets the call from Mike and remembers Richie. In the airport Eddie passes a sample stand of vanilla scented colognes but this times he smiles at the memory of his childhood best friend and schoolboy crush.
Ok ok. Reddie.
In It: Chapter 2 when Richie says that he doesn't write his own material Eddie says "I knew it, I fuckin new it". Which I like to think means that after he recovered from the initial shock of remembering Derry and the Losers he looked up Richie and looked at some of his material and was like "This doesn't sound like Rich. This isn't Richie's humour"
