Confession but I like Windwaljer better than Toothless as a companion. Like, Toothless is better in the sense that he's a lot funnier and witty but Windwalker just gives off that same loyal cozy vibe as a horse shaped dog.

The episode 'Portrait of Hiccup as a Buff Man' is basically just the entire plot of the books.

Hamish the second (movie version of Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the second) was a Hiccup and left the treasure with a bunch of riddles and puzzles and when Hiccup found the treasure there was a not that said "Only a Hiccup could get this far." Which resulted in Hiccup being more accepted by his father and the people around him and being remembered for being his own person and not the idea of the perfect ideal heir to the throne of Berk.

There were a lot of differences like, it took Hiccup 4 years to become king of the wilderwest and 3 years to get people to follow him in the fight against Alvin to do good and the treasure in the books was hidden by Grimbeard in honour of his son rather than the other way around, but it's still very much the same premise of Hiccup discovering that being a runt isn't necessarily bad and being a funky little guy is actually a really good thing.

Also, the episode where they go to Vaneheim and get stuck because of the sentinels is like in book 2 when they go ti wherever and have to fight blind and deaf dragons with an incredibly advanced sense of smell and brutal killing methods

Rewatching Heather Report, Part 1, for the first time since starting on the Httyd books has made me realize just how similar Heather's first appearance is to Alvin's in the books.

Heather was "shipwrecked", much like how Alvin was found in a coffin at sea, both have a sea-related introduction.

Heather is trying to be friendly with Hiccup and friends, because she wants something from Berk. Alvin was trying to be friendly with Hiccup and his tribe, because he wanted something from Berk.

Heather got closer to Hiccup by helping him with his forging. Alvin got closer to Hiccup by helping him with something.

Heather worked for the Outcasts. Alvin worked for the Outcasts.

Astrid was almost immediately suspicious of Heather, she tried to warn Hiccup. Toothless was immediately suspicious of Alvin, he tried to warn Hiccup.

Heather mostly succeeded in her mission. Alvin almost succeeded in his mission.

The tv-shows are probably the closest to the books than the movieverse has ever gotten.

One time I showed this to my friends and said "literally us" and then my friend pointed to Hiccup and said "the skinny autistic twink in the middle is me" so I punched him in the arm for stealing my identity

I can infact confirm that book Hiccup is a little skrunkly wet cat and movie Hiccup doesn't know what a HD is but his doctor said he has 80 of them, observe in this image.

This kid took a class to learn how to keep people off his land where he should know dang well by now that he’s supposed to yell at them and yet his first thought is always “oh I know this language here let me speak it :3”

He was terrible at writing and dexterity and everything for about ten years of his life and didn’t once consider that he was actually left handed he just thought he sucked.

When a dragon the size of a mountain washed up on his shores threatening to eat everyone he loved, he didn’t once consider hurting it. He instead decided to give it a sensory nightmare by pouring feathers in its nose to stress it out.

This is all just Book!Hiccup but don’t think Movie!Hiccup is free from this title

Sobbing because I spent so much time and effort being hyperfixated on how to train your dragon and the audiobooks are what led to my downfall into my new doctor who hyperfix

I didn't like it it just felt anticlimatic. It was a great book don't get me wrong but it's not as good as the other ones

I just found out yesterday that the httyd audiobooks are free on youtube and I'm already on book 4

One of the things I live about tumblr is that uts literally amazing for all my fandom needs. Like, you could have the rarest hyperfixation ever and there will be an entire community for it on tumblr filled with fanart, fanfics, rambles, info dumps, theories and memes. I love tumblr.

In httyd book 2 we know that Hiccup is 11 because he is no longer 10 but he hasn't turned 12 yet. But in the beginning it says that he's had Toothless for years as in plural which means it's been more than 1 which implies that Hiccup is due to turn 12. Bit since his birthday is in February that means that the events from book 2-5 all happened all within January. So within the span of a month Hiccup almost died to a monstrous strangulator, got kidnapped by Romans, almost died of vorpentitis and surfed down an erupting volcano on a dragon.

This actually did happen to me a little over a week ago

Hiccup: Last night I was crying while listening to Spotify and the wii sports tennis theme started playing so I just cried harder.
