Curate, connect, and discover
i saw a theory on tiktok that basically posited that because we already know what happens in haymitch's games from the original trilogy and one of the big themes of this book is propaganda we're either going to see that haymitch's games were actually completely different to what we think we know or the book will be a multi pov look at his games with some capitol citizen povs in it
either way i am SAT
“Oh my god we’re getting Haymitch’s games” “oh my god I can’t wait to see this from Haymitch’s pov”
Suzanne Collins doesn’t write unless she has something to say. With the current political climate, I can’t wait to hear what she has to say. It’s supposed to be about the power of propaganda and implicit submission? Consider me sat, oh my god this is going to be great.
I feel like we are losing the plot to katniss everdeen, I understand the state the word is in right now and that the people want someone to look up to, and katniss everdeen is a good character for that. But we can't forget that katniss everdeen never wanted to fight she wanted to survive and make sure the people that she loved survived with her. That's why she volunteered for prim, that's why she became the mockingjay, to make sure that peeta was safe in case the rebels found him, that they wouldn't kill him, that's why she did what she did with the nigthlock, not because she wanted to defy the capitol, but because she wanted to survive, and to make sure peeta survived with her. There is even a point in mocking jay where people are discussing what actions katniss made that touched them and made them like her. And none of those actions where made with the principle of defying the capitol or make people see her as a martyr of revolution, it was just katniss being herself and caring for others, it was just katniss showing raw emotions, like when she covered rue with flowers, she did that of course to show that rue wasn't just an other tribute she was a person that was cared for, loved, that didn't deserve the fate she got, to show that rue wasn't just an ally that she would quickly move on from, but a person she would truly remember forever, that rue wasn't just a tribute for the entertainment of the capitol but a real person. Yes in that case she did defy the capitol but not because she wanted to be a revolutionary but because she wanted to pay tribute to someone she cared for. When she drugged peeta to try and save him knowing fully well she might not come back, but that the wish of him surviving was big enough for her to do it. Katniss everdeen never wanted to be the simbol of revolution, she wanted to survive and to make sure the people she loved survived with her, and we know this for the very first page when she tried to drown buttercup, only stopping because of Prim, Katniss wants to survive, and she doesn't want her loved ones to suffer. Of course she is more layered then this but I think people keep forgetting this aspect of her pretty often.
WHO THE FUCK IS WOODBINE CHANCE
If you see this you’re legally obligated to reblog and tag with the book you’re currently reading
Kenneth Branagh has the opportunity to do the funniest thing possible
Suzanne is not fucking around anymore. This book is about so many things but the thing that stuck out most to me was the rage I think dominates this prequel more than any other book in the series.
When the news came out a book about Haymitch was coming after years of fan requests (and a film to be developed in tandem) I’ll admit, I had my doubts.
But what Collins delivers is more brutal a gut punch than I think even the most hard core fans of this series were anticipating. In the wake of political unrest across the US and world wide, in an era of disinformation, she tells the reader clearly to look and think for themselves, and shows the atrocities that can come when we do not.
This book is about anger and injustice and it does not try to convince its reader otherwise. At times you can feel Collins shaking the reader by the shoulders: ‘See?! See what happens when you blindly accept what they tell you? See what you let them take?’.
Fans familiar with Haymitch will not be surprised by a lot of the major beats of this story but the focus on propaganda still leads to some interesting reveals. This is the goriest of Collins series and in many ways I think will be the hardest to adapt, perhaps her own rebellion against the industry that continues to profit off her work and contort her message
Thinking about the lyrics from ballad of Lucy Gray but applied to Haymitch and Maysilee Donner, and his girlfriend, and his family, and literally all the people haunting him while he slowly drinks himself to death after winning the games
The new Hunger Games book AND the announcement for the movie are the best things that have ever happened to me in my miserable life (even though this will probably make me even more miserable).
Update: I wrote one and there will be more to come! You can check it out here! -> The Fall Of Snow
I can't believe that I'm saying this, but.... I will be taking Coriolanus Snow x reader requests because Tom Blyth is just too FINEEE!!
I can't believe that I'm saying this, but.... I will be taking Coriolanus Snow x reader requests because Tom Blyth is just too FINEEE!!
I know the new Hunger Games book announcement is exciting. But in what world are we hearing more about a book announcement than we are about the bombing of 40 children in a UN school-turned-refugee shelter? These two events occurred on the same day. Only one is being widely spoken about in the media.
Let’s not forget why Suzanne Collins wrote the series in the first place. One night, she was watching TV, flipping back and forth between coverage of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and a reality-TV show. That's when she had the idea that would ultimately turn into The Hunger Games.
Please don’t let pop culture distract you from a genocide.
Sejanus Plinth moodboard
He is the best boy, totally in love with him. I am still crying about his fate, he didn’t deserve that.
Currently I am in process of making few more moodboards dedicated to characters from Ballad of songbirds and snakes, so stay tuned.
Have fun and enjoy( I know it is hard with this character)
My theory for the next Hunger Games book is that it’ll follow a spy from INSIDE the capitol (who’s actually organizing and failing to start a revolution), and/or a tribute from district 12, who died in the games.
The spy (Plutarch Heavensbee?) sees how the world is build, sees their own position in society and decides to rebel against it since it’s completely wrong. Sure, it may take a while, but in the end they actually do something!
And maybe, the spy tries to make a winner, or a revolutionary, of the district 12 tribute (or any other tribute), but it doesn’t work. They die, and maybe they try another tribute, and that person dies, and it continues until finally they hatch a plan?
Why is it that the first thing I thought at the sight of this was "Is that an Underland Chronicles reference?"
how many angry female cows could you fight bare handed do you think
Cows? Those big ones? Realistically probably about 400 before I'd start breaking a sweat.
new meme template right there
im making a tuc-epic animatic and here is my VERY important preview for the fans
Ok, so chances are none of you know a damn thing about JJK, but I started writing this fic on a whim, so I may as well tell you all about it:
Gregor as a jujutsu sorcerer. After the Underland, his parents just decided to get the hell away from that place that stole away their kids and shoved them into some war by moving to Japan. And then their son gets dragged into the world of Jujutsu sorcery, which adds an interesting parallel into the mix.
Not sure if I'll give him a technique or not, but I kinda like the idea of him just going at all the curses Japan has to offer with nothing but his skill with a sword and cursed energy manipulation. BUT what I could also do is give him some kind of curse bond, like Ares or maybe even the Bane, like how Yuta fights alongside Rika.
I'm honestly thinking of sending him to the Kyoto school to even out the scoreboard, as a rager with cursed energy on their side could start to even things out, along with Mechamaru and Todo. He could also act as opposition to the higher ups and Principal Gakuganji, though I wouldn't be surprised if he got scouted by Gojo and taken to Tokyo, where Kusakabe could've helped train him (although Kusakabe seems to have taught Miwa so it's not really a deal breaker if Gregor goes to Kyoto).
I also have some ideas about him finding a curse on accident at first, then as he fights it he ends up channeling cursed energy through his rage, which allows him to kill it, before a sorcerer and/or a window show up, as they intended to kill it before he showed up, which leads to him getting enrolled.
So yeah. Came out a bit longer than intended, and most of you probably have no idea what I'm talking about, but what do you guys think? Any other ideas? Thinking of calling it "The Cursed Warrior", but I might choose another name if I find or come up with a better one.
Ok, so I saw @yesthefandomfreakblr's post about Gregor not returning to the Underland, and it got me thinking about a potential fic idea.
I know this is going to sound very weird, and I've probably only been thinking about it because I've been watching the show recently, but hear me out here:
Gregor's Bizarre Adventure.
Like JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, but the protagonist is Gregor. He gets his own stand, goes on a crazy adventure across America battling other stand users and making friends, with the whole story it's more or less removed from the Underland, focusing more on how that trauma affected him, and possibly maybe Vampire Solovet as an antagonist.
I might have seen this said before, on a different post, but I couldn't find it, so I'm just gonna say a few words on this, partially because of that and partially because it's been ages since I've last read the series, despite it being ingrained into my head.
Almost all of the characters in TUC have moments where they are genuine assholes. Gregor has a few points where he says some genuinely disrespectful shit. Luxa, as well as most of the other humans (including Gregor, although arguably to a lesser extent), are deeply prejudiced against the gnawers. Ripred, is, well, Ripred (look, I love him, we all do, but he's a dick).
Even Vikus, arguably one of the nicest characters in the series, admires Sandwich (I think, been a while), a man who literally used poison to commit genocide in the name of stealing land that didn't belong to him.
The only characters I can think of in TUC that don't have flaws are the ones who also have the least lines: Aurora, Dulcet, Miravet. Oh, and all of those characters? Probably also prejudiced against gnawers, just never explicitly stated (to my knowledge), probably due to their obscene lack of lines. Of course there are characters like Lizzie and Hazard, who are literal fucking children so as nice as they are, I think it's safe to say they can't really be counted up here. (Should probably also mention that Gregor and Luxa are also children, just ones that were forced to grow up faster, sadly).
Then again, all of these characters have redeeming qualities. Gregor can be disrespectful at times, but that's mainly because of the stress placed upon him by the various bullshit situations he has to go through, and he usually apologizes after. Luxa and all the humans are deeply prejudiced (actually, I should probably add the fliers might be in that category too), but they are basically raised from birth to hate and kill gnawers, and vice versa. plus, it's shown that despite what is practically being brainwashed from birth, they can grow and change to overcome their own bigotry and accept gnawers as genuine people, as well as friends.
And yes, Ripred, the glorious bastard himself, is a dick. But he's also a war veteran who's lost his family, and most of the respect from his people, meaning he mainly works with humans, who tend to treat him with suspicion, if not outright hostility (until they get to know him). And he makes up for it by letting his guard down at times to be a father to the traumatized pups that dragged him into their pack.
Point is, flawed characters are one of the things that make TUC so great. They're not few and hid away either, they're everywhere, with visible flaws. If you want to make a good character, TUC is a great series to use as an example. Everything casts a shadow, just like every character has a flaw. If they don't, you probably just can't see them from your angle. And if they don't? Like, at all? Give them some, just make sure the shadow they cast matches up with the object itself.
I might be going insane, but at least it's over a great series
Reject fluff, return to everyone-in-the-Overland-knowing-Gregor-has-issues-because-of-his-dad's-disappearance-and-being-forced-to-take-care-of-his-younger-siblings-and-grandmother-out-of-necessity-and-his-friends-and-teachers-and-Mrs-Cormaci-watching-his-mental-health-get-worse-and-worse-to-the-point-where-he's-like-the-boogeyman-of-his-school-but-he-refuses-to-talk-about-it-because-he-knows-they'll-think-he's-insane-if-he-tells-them-the-truth-so-it's-like-a-tragedy-as-this-previously-bright-and-happy-kid-who-loved-playing-his-saxophone-and-being-on-the-track-team-spirals-into-a-hollow-wreck-of-a-teen angst.
Announcing the COMPLETION of AHS 1 & 2 [3rd Edition]
It's a new year ... and new AHS!
I would like to formally announce the COMPLETION of the "A Henry Story 2" edit!! Book 1 has been done for a while, nonetheless ... this is a grand moment.
Please download the professionally formatted PDFs here if you like. Otherwise, I have updated Book 1 on all platforms, Book 2 on every platform except FF.net (that one will follow soon, but the UI is a pain so it's a bit of a hassle.)
BOOK 1: Memories of the Fallen Prince
BOOK 2: Trials of the Fallen Prince
I am incredibly proud of this third edition; the story is truly coming together now. I HIGHLY recommend all of you who have read it in the past to reread it :) This is now the fully realized vision I had for this book. I assure you, it's worth another read. Also in preparation for the continuation of book 3! And of course, if you have been waiting to start AHS as a whole, GO FOR IT NOW! Believe me, you don't need to like Henry to read this series. Come for more Underland and get attached to him somewhere along the way (it will happen, believe me.)
PLEASE LEAVE ME SOME THOUGHTS AND/OR COMMENTS IF YOU DO CHECK IT OUT :) I cannot be held responsible for any soul-crushing or tears, btw. You read at your own risk :)
... MEANWHILE, I'LL BE OVER IN AHS 3 ... The plan now is to edit everything that exists of that book so far, and then finish the bit of the ending I have left. WISH ME LUCK AND ENJOY!
...um, could you explain a little bit? Please?
If Hamnet has 100 haters, im one of them
If Hamnet has 10 haters, im one of them
If Hamnet has 1 hater, its me
If the entire world is with Hamnet, im against the whole world
If Hamnet has no haters, i am dead
The names of the gnawers are not their actual names. Ripred isn't actually called Ripred. Lapblood isn't actually called Lapblood. Those are just the closest human translations of their actual names in the gnawer language, names that could have related, but still entirely different meanings.
Relistening to Gregor the Overlander (cuz Libby doesn't have what I want)
Why is Henry so good?!
Why do I like him?!
This series is canon, as far as I'm concerned
Something I decided to cook up to celebrate the completion of the AHS 1 edit (YES THE FIRST BOOK HAS BEEN OVERHAULED AND IT'S SO MUCH BETTER NOW GO REREAD IF YOU LIKED IT PLEASE!! I PROMISE IT'S WORTH IT!)
Ripred & Henry are one of my favorite dynamics to write in AHS 3 and I adore how far they've come and where they started.
That and Henry in general. This is your AHS 1 vs AHS 3 Henry comparison as well (yes, ALL the text here are actual quotes from the books.)
Honestly, Ripred should start to consider paying rent with how much he and his words of harsh but wise truth live in Henry's head 🤣
Ares isn't an incel. He's just a sigma male (or just straight up depressed.)
WE ARE SO BACK! In tomorrow’s episode of Return to Regalia, Oona and Nate analyze the first three chapters of The Prophecy of Bane, in which Boots gets kidnapped by cockroaches.
Well. My dash is starting to get empty because I’ve unfollowed so many people recently, so I guess I’m doing one of these?

There is a good chance I will not follow everyone who reblogs this, as I am very picky about curating my dashboard. It’s nothing personal if I don’t follow you!
god, the way the hunger games truly reflects today’s political climate is so… daunting. i mean, from the first few chapters you’re introduced to the astronomical amount of censorship the capitol feeds into the viewers. only those who were there to witness the true atrocities are aware of the actual occurrences but they’re bound to a hopeless secrecy out of fear they’ll be the next victim lost to lies.
haymitch did everything to tell the true story, to show the people who the capitol is and what they truly stand for. but he was punished, condemned to live a life of suffering simply because he yearned to be heard, to be seen, to do what’s right.
it’s not unlike our own lives. the lengths people are forced to go to do exactly what haymitch yearned to do - the lengths we have to go to grasp onto our humanity and do what’s right.
An addition if I may
so im rereading the hunger games
