Curate, connect, and discover
Went over to a cute trans girls house, only for her to force me to wash her dishes
Trying to have kinky sex while in a relationship where everyone has sensory issues is a struggle
No means no in any situation. I wish people would stop assuming and crossing boundaries because of what comfort looks like to them.
pls pls pls pls plsss respect when people don't want to be touched. that goes for family too.
anyone else get imposter syndrome about having sensory issues? like the thought that goes something like 'oh i can't possibly have sensory issues this is a normal reaction to a bad smell/light/texture/sound' and shit like that? well i have the perfect solution!!!
get a sibling. they'll trigger every possible wrong thing in the world all at once and when you ask them to stop chewing with their mouth open THEY'LL DO IT LOUDER!!! AND YOU'LL GET CALLED TOO SENSITIVE!!!
you'd never guess it but the 'sens' in sensitive is the same as the one in 'sensory issues'
Edit: i fucking hate spell check
Being a picky eater as an adult is so hard because I’m TRYING to expand my pallet, but every time I look up a recipe it’s like “this meal’s so quick and easy! It only takes 3 1/2 hours of prep, 6 hours of cook time, and 45 minutes to plate :) There are fifty ingredients, half of which you’ve literally never had in your life :) so if you don’t like this recipe or you forget to make it, I guess you’ll just have to throw out $50 worth of food that you have literally no other use for!! Have fun, super easy for new cooks, super fun and easy and quick :))))”
That's shit genuinely makes me recoil and tear my skin off
You know you're overstimulated when you're about to start crying over your pillows being at the wrong angle to sleep.
Note: Sound sensitivity isn't exclusive to autism, but is incredibly common in autistic people. It's also one of the difficulties that people often cannot understand and grossly underestimate if they do not experience it themselves. I'll repost this soon with visual descriptions (I'm currently sick with COVID-19). If you find anything I post helpful, please consider buying me a Ko-Fi.

Anyone else ever get frustrated at how a lot of autism and sensory related things are made for children? Sensory toys, fidgets, earmuffs, etc are always marketed as being for kids/babies. I got so excited when I found a site making "sensory/fidget friendly clothing", only to find almost everything was made only for kids. I even saw a sort of "sensory gym" thing that looked great, but you go to their website and its only for kids. I'm small, I enjoy kid-related things, but come on. Autistic kids grow into autistic adults.
If I could communicate to people using only beeps and TV static I would. I hate verbal communication
got diagnosed with an ED last night, so lets do some safe foods! (non body image based, spd based, although i do hate my body)
if a picky american child (6 years old) would eat it, there's a good chance i will too. name a food in the comments and i'll tell you if i'll eat it or not.
for consistently safe foods/meals:
strawberry smoothie and tortilla chips
grilled steak and rice
cucumber salad (chopped into quarters, with balsamic vinegar, olive oil, and a lot of salt)
plain quesadilla (flour tortilla, mexican blend cheese. thats it)
mac+cheese and ground beef (not mixed together, i eat them separately)
and pretty much nothing else. my spice tolerance is that of a nordic viking. (but i don't eat fish. or any kind of seafood)
Sometimes I wonder if I’m actually autistic or if I’m making it up, but just now I hovered my cursor over the red bar on YouTube, and I very literally and physically felt the left side of my head buzz when the cursor was on the left side, and I was shivering until I put the cursor on the right side to balance it out, and only when I put the cursor in the middle did both sides of my head buzz at an equal frequency. Which I don’t think is normal.
Pls make the fireworks stop..I hate them
posting this..as someone with autism
fourth of July is a nightmare for me.
I'm trying to follow the racoons advice but the most impossible task rn is taking a shower.
Does anyone with food sensitivities ever get food they like delivered and after meticulously looking through it to make sure it's safe to eat you take a bite and feel the crunch of an onion. Me: Screaming, crying, gagging, heaving, entire body crinkles like aluminum foil.
Just me? ok cool
Me whenever people be talking about dumb shit at work, like bitch I DON"T GIVE A SINGLE FUCK ABOUT YOUR LIFE, GO AWAY, then I calm down and feel a little bad, ONLY a little though
Kind of a rant about probably my least favorite holiday:
Unhappy 4th of July to the people that set off bird killers and flashback initiators.
Hate fireworks. I live in an area that’s obsessed with them though. We’re autistic and have PTSD, so they’re a big no for us. Our PTSD isn’t even from combat, but they’re still causing negative stuff in our brain as we type this out. I hope the birds nesting in our area (and all the other people and critters) are okay, but I know they aren’t.
Also, WHY do they set them off in the week or so leading up to tonight too?
I swear my neighbors are playing some kind of July 4th playlist (so far “Firework” and “Party In The USA” have played). Like okay, we’re losing our rights and you’re celebrating this oppressive place by shooting things into the sky. Add “American Healthcare” by Penelope Scott. It’s much more accurate.

Oh my god this explains my whole life
Autistic Traits I Struggle to Describe to Non-Autistic People

I recently got noise cancelling headphones because I have a lot of sensory issues and misophonia. I have been hesitant to use them because I don't want them to be a crutch but that's stupid. If you need to wear headphones to do the dishes because the sound of silverware clanking together makes you feel like dying then do it. If you need that aid then use it.
"How do you have so much energy all the time ???"
I don't, I'm constantly tired but I'm also being the class clown because I have abandonment issues and adhd
I need to understand something...
Why are a majority of the posts regarding sensory issues so brightly coloured? Either they feature drawings/cartoons in flashy colours or collages/headers/images/banners that are also extremely colourful.
I am aware that not everyone who has sensory processing difficulties or advocates for them has issues with colour overload but it's auch a common theme - so just lemme see something real quick:
Please share/reblog for greater reach! Would be very much appreciated :)
Tfw they put fucking PEAS in your fav canned soup recipe... and CORN
i hate having major sensory issues
FYM tonight i’m going to bed naked because wearing anything with a bad “texture” or is long sleeved or isn’t the right type of baggy makes me want to rip of my skin 😭😭😭
My hair is literally SOPPING wet and it’s making me have issues because it’s touching my back and making me cold 💔💔💔
when you want an emo haircut(side-swept bangs) but hair in your face gives you sensory issues
